Authentic Nihontō Japanese Sword Katana Signed by Ominokami Fujiwara Tsuguhiro 近江守藤原継廣 NBTHK HOZON TOKEN Certificate

No flaws, no defects. There is a light rust that has discolored to some extent. This is an original piece from Himeji.

In Echizen Province, there were many swordsmiths who had migrated from Mino Seki, collectively referred to as Echizen Seki. Echizen Shinto swords have been highly valued for their excellent sharpness and practicality since the late Tokugawa era.

Among them, Yasutsugu, who was allowed by Ieyasu to carve the Tokugawa family crest with three hollyhock leaves on his swords, is a renowned master representing Echizen Shinto swords. This sword is an excellent work by Tsunetsugu, a prominent disciple of the third-generation Yasutsugu, known for his sharp blades and famous for his cutting ability, active around the Kanbun era of the Edo period. The blade has a robust and spirited gunome-midare pattern, with a distinct texture that is commonly referred to as Echizen jitetsu. Although it has been shortened, both the blade and the tempering are clear and sharp, making it a highly valuable piece.

Note: The jitetsu might appear rough in the photos due to lighting conditions, but it is actually very finely textured and beautiful. This sword was also used in the filming of Fuji TV's 'THE BESTHOUSE 1 2 3'.
