Authentic Nihontō Japanese Sword Katana Signed by Nanki ju Fujiwara Kunimitsu 南紀住藤原國光 NBTHK HOZON TOKEN Certificate 

南紀國光 (Nanki Kunimitsu), also known as 三崎太郎 (Misaki Taro), was a swordsmith who served the Kishu Tokugawa family as an official swordsmith, forging swords in the castle town of Wakayama and also in Yotsuya, Edo.

This sword has a narrow base width, slightly curved towards the tip, with a large kissaki. At first glance, it appears similar to the large suriage style of the Nanbokucho period. The well-forged steel shows a mix of ko-itame and mokume hada with slight grain pattern and chikei. The hamon is a bright nioiguchi with a broad suguha base and small midare, featuring frequent ashi and yo, with kinsuji and sunagashi. On the omote side, the hamon displays a unique pattern where the gunome appears as a series of spherical shapes. The boshi on the omote side is straight with slight irregularity, ending in a small maru. On the ura side, it is also straight with small gunome, ending with a slight upward thrust and a small maru.

Although the blade can still be appreciated in its current state, it has a somewhat cloudy appearance with slight rust. Therefore, polishing is recommended for optimal enjoyment. There are forging flaws slightly below the center of the cutting edge on the omote side and slightly below the monouchi on the omote side.
