Authentic Nihontō Japanese Sword Katana Attributed to Sainoo Morihiro 道祖尾守廣 NBTHK HOZON TŌKEN Certificate 

守廣 is said to be the previous name of 七郎左衛門廣賀 of the 道祖派.

The 廣賀派, representing 伯耆鍛冶, is divided into the 道祖尾家 and 見田家. The 道祖尾家 produced swords in 倉吉鍛冶町 from the 文明 period of the 室町時代 to the 江戸時代. The 見田家 began with 五郎左衛門尉廣賀, who was a disciple of 相州綱廣 around the 天文 period, and continued with several generations of the same name until the early 江戸時代. Both families prospered greatly.

This sword has a well-proportioned width from base to tip and a slightly extended tip. The steel has a well-forged 板目 mixed with 小板目, fine 地沸, and prominent 地景. The hamon is a 互の目乱れ with frequent 足 and 葉, and distinct 砂流 that intertwines with the steel. The 鋩子 on the obverse is 直ぐ調 with slight irregularities and a sweeping tip, while on the reverse, it is 直ぐ with a rounded tip, deeply tempered downwards, showcasing the characteristics of both 末相州 and 末備前. The blackish hue of the steel is a distinct feature of the 廣賀派.

This sword fits into a standard scabbard, allowing for the affordable creation of a simple 武用拵. Please feel free to inquire. The balance towards the handle makes it an easy-to-handle sword.
